Electronic drum kits have been around for a while now, and some unprofessional drummers and professional drummers have chosen to start using cheap electronic drums for many reasons, however cheap drums sets are still popular. Cheap electronic drums are very cheap. You can sometimes get them for a lot cheaper; this means they are very friendly for the beginner drummer with no experience and not a lot of money to invest in real drum kits.
These cheap electronic drums are also great because of their portability many bands I have spoken now like to use cheap electronic drums because when touring they can easily throw it in the van with the rest of the gear. This is also convenient for small bands who can’t afford to takes ages setting up a drum kit or who haven’t got the space that a real drum kit will take up. Although many people consider the cheap electronic drums as sounding very electronic, this simply isn’t the case anymore, cheap electronic drums can sound authentic now.
Companies like Roland have taken the industry by storm with their TD range of cheap electronic drums. These are the most popular ones that professional drummers will use. The versatility of cheap electronic drums is also that the sounds heard by the audience can be changed. Therefore with this kit you will have a jazz, a rock kit, pop kit, hip hop kit, a Latin kit and many more types of kits. They have also been a huge success with the younger generation for another reason. The ability to use headphones with your cheap electronic drums means that neighbours don’t complain and it can be virtually silent compared to a real drum kit, now practising can happen at any hour of the day, thanks to cheap electronic drums. I’m sure the market for cheap electronic drums is going to get bigger and bigger as people want more versatility with their instruments (i.e what sounds they play, how loud they play) However I am certain that cheap electronic drums will not alter the rate at which real drum kits sell at. Who knows maybe in the future they will make real drums to sound more electronic, and thumping. Then they might aim to make cheap electronic drums sound more like authentic drums. Gosh backwards thinking eh? Only time will tell, but until then I highly suggest if you’re interested in drumming then you should check out these babies, there great!

Although I prefer acoustic sets, when you live in a neighborhood where the neighbors simply won't tolerate a bunch of noise, finding cheap electronic drum sets is the best way to go. Then, you can even play with headphones on!
